The beautiful thing about teenage friendships is that they bring chick fil a on Saturday mornings after you’ve totaled your car. More than one. We got chick fil a from Bryson and Madison, neither can drive yet, so their parents took them and then brought it by. I’m just sitting here in tears thinking about how thankful I am that everyone is ok and that they all want to cheer up my girl. She’s so heartbroken about her car and the fact that she could’ve hurt someone. She’s claiming she’ll never drive again. We all know that’s not true and we all know that right now it’s the worst thing that has ever happened, but there will be more and maybe worse things. All I’m doing right now is praying nothing worse will ever happen to her.

My friend, Vanessa from At the Picket Fence, shared this today and I just know it was meant just for me!! I slept like a rock last night and woke up with my tree still standing!!! Ahhhh. That’s a good feeling. I”m not going to think about the ornaments that are gone, just the ones that are still here! I’m not going to go out and try to replace them. That’s silly. I think it looks great!
I took Connor to Leiper’s Fork today and he loves it as much as I do! We bought a couple of Christmas gifts and then ran into the man himself, Santa!! We gave him our lists and we hope we have been good this year!!
That’s a little deceiving. I don’t know how to hang a piano on the wall. Good lord, can you imagine doing that? I’m sure it’s done somewhere and it’s fabulous! But, not at moon glow lake.
I was on the local radio station this morning, WDJC, with Roxanne and Chris. Gah, we laughed! Roxanne and I tend to go overboard when it comes to decorating for Christmas and Chris, well, Chris just didn’t understand. We tried to talk about how to make decorating your house simple. Chris seems to think matching ornaments and wrapping paper are not important. But, just think, if you have a color theme, it’s easy!! Just buy all matching things and you’re done! No decorating style needed!! I did want to come home and find something to show you how easy it is to add a little merry to your home in the easiest way. I grabbed a piece of a branch from my Christmas tree and popped a ribbon on top and added it to this piano hanging on my wall. See? Easy!!
Look what came today! A gingerbread house from Maddox and Jeanine! Is it not the cutest? I love how they put our name on the house and a giant, cursive L!!! My favorite letter! It literally made my day! The tiny, cute tree got put in the den. This is going to be the spot, I guess. Gotta work some magic!
I’ve got the itch, but I’m super overwhelmed to decorate this house for Christmas! I went to find the tree stand because I ordered a tree, yes, ordered the Christmas Tree. I didn’t order a stand, because we got a new stand a couple of years ago. I’ve been struggling with the decision of where to put the tree this year. I have zero wall space and zero corners. I’m thinking it will go in front of the middle back doors. Anyway, I found this garland and decided…I had to start somewhere. I threw it up and went and found these moss covered reindeer from one of the boxes and voila! I have a little Christmas spirit at Moonglow Lake!
It’s here. There’s no more anticipation of the end of the year and the holidays. They are upon us! I love this time of year. I seem to be busier than ever right now, but I know it’s worth it!
I had elves come today and we got a lot done! Lots of prisms and cuffs made. You’ll see new cuffs on the website by Friday! I hope…..I worked on an exclusive black prism necklace for TMB Skin Clinic. I work with them on a few marketing things and they have an annual holiday party each year for their patients. It was fun to create something special for them. I literally made them after I got to the party and was in such a hurry, I didn’t even get a picture of them!! I’m so sad! We added a bit of color and I love the way they turned out!
You guys! We had so many orders over the holiday and today for Cyber Monday!! We have been little elves trying to get all the orders out and I’m so humbled by your response to Lucy’s Inspired Jewelry! I think everyone for miles will be wearing a prism this year!! I’ve been trying to tell y’all you can wear it with anything….now you’ll see for yourself!
I had more things on my list than I could do, but there’s always tomorrow. I have no idea when I’ll get my house decorated for Christmas. I need elves…..a lot of them!! You can see our house decorated from 2 years ago in the portfolio tab. It was pretty dreamy. I don’t think I’ll manage all of that this year, though!! We’ll see! Here’s a peek from 2013.
I do love Sundays. This was a lazy one, too! The weather here in the south is ridiculously warm! It was in the 70’s today. That is unusually warm! I went out in the woods after breakfast and we moved a ladder stand, chopped down some brush and checked all the cameras on the properties. It’s fun to watch them do their thing. I did just that…I watched. This tree was in the middle of one of the green fields and it was so majestic standing there. It was begging to have it’s picture made! There were handmade ladder rungs half way up and it made me wonder if there had once been a tree house up there. It would be a beautiful spot for a house, but it was pretty deep in those woods with little muddy trails leading to the field.
We got started early this morning! The guys all got up and hunted and then we went up to the big house for breakfast. That’s what we call Grandaddy and Susu’s house. We have a little cabin at the bottom of the hill and it’s fine for us….or for the boys since they don’t care about anything fancy. Like towels for instance. I could only find one and it had been folded up for a long time. I thought I might need to wash it before I used it! There was coffee, though, and while waited on the boys to all come home, I sat on the porch and read magazine’s and planned for 2016 while I drank the coffee!! There’s very limited internet access and so you just enjoy the surroundings and if you need to do something with wifi, you just go up to the top of the hill and stand with one foot up and your left hand waving in the air and you can pretty much make it happen!
We were on the road all. day. long today. It was brutal. We went from Loudon, Tennessee to Gastonburg, Alabama. That’s where the camp house is. The population is like 21 or maybe 22 now. Clayton had a baby!
I did a lot of reading and instagram stalking. Free Shipping on the website this week and we’ve had several orders! I love getting that email! New order has arrived…….. We will be shipping out orders asap on Monday!
I love this sign! It was on the mantel at Mimi’s house and Emma and I ran out for a photo shoot! We did a little pre-Thanksgiving shopping last night and she got this cute black dress at Alter’d State. I got pajamas……thank goodness because I have them on right now!! Stretch! yessssssssss
Meet Jazzy. She is a miniature labradoodle! Santa brought her to us in 2007 for Christmas. He had to drop her off early and brought her while we were at the grocery store about a week before Christmas! It was so exciting!! Everyone says she’s the best dog and I have to agree!
What a long day! We had lots of orders to be filled with the FREE SHIPPING code that is going on all week for Thanksgiving! If you are shopping from your sofa on Thursday, or all the way through the weekend, you get free shipping at Lucysinspired.com! I’m heading to my Mom’s tomorrow and we will be chilling with family all weekend, so the orders will go out on Monday…..or Tuesday!
Sometimes I have to break from the routine. We sell so many more Lucy’s Inspired prism necklaces and vintage hardware cuffs than we do one of a kinds. Ashlee helped me out for so long, I got to where I didn’t make many. She made them all! She got a full-time and we are LOW! So, I pulled out the bling and the cool hardware pieces and started playing late last night. This is a little snap shot of what I came up with. I love color and I love texture! I don’t wear a lot of bling, but I love the way it looks on these pieces!!
Mondays are long. Especially when I haven’t been in the workshop since last Wednesday! Thankfully, this will be a short week! The holidays seem to make that happen! Here’s to short weeks until 2016! Speaking of being Thankful. I decided to run FREE SHIPPING this week! It’s on that fun banner I created yesterday. I love Squarespace. I love that it’s easy and it looks good and it helps those of us that can’t hire web designers create beautiful websites!
What a fun day to rest! It’s freezing outside and I found several movies to watch all day! I needed to be making jewelry, but sometimes it just works out to do nothing.
We did make it to church before Connor and John Connor made their way to the camp house. I was so excited when I tried on my new dress with the necklace I brought home from Perfectly Imperfect. There were two necklaces left from their last order and this one, this one was a favorite! I don’t find a lot of color in vintage hardware. Most pieces are neutral. Everyone once in awhile, we find pink or red or green, probably more shades of blue than anything. This is a big, pink round circle. It’s simply hanging from chain and has a couple of keys and a prism hanging from it. I put it on immediately and never took it off! I left a TON of jewelry there and decided to trade this one with them. When I got home i had a package from Anthropologie with a sweater dress I ordered last week. It matches perfectly and looks like it was made for the dress! score.
When you own your own business it feels like you never get time off. It’s Saturday and I am ready for a day off! You know that it’s the holiday season and when you sell jewelry, it’s not very smart to take days off! I had a trunk show at the Junior League of Birmingham’s Market Noel today from 10-1pm. I got to hang out with my best buddy, Becky Denny of Digs Design and Bamawise. Bamawise had a booth all weekend. If you aren’t sure what Bamawise is, you should check out their brand new website! It’s a company that distributes all Alabama made foods. Jeff and Becky invited me to hang out in their booth for a few hours and sell some jewelry! I had a splendid time and got to see so many friends!
I was so excited to stop in the Holiday Kress On Dexler Pop Up shop featuring Southern Makers this morning! I was in there on Monday and man, they have been working HARD!! It was a shell of a space on Monday. Didn’t even have a door!! Today, there are absolutely perfect vignettes on every side! I am so in love with this idea. They have taken a small space in downtown Montgomery and made it into a Maker’s Gift Shop. I can’t think of a better way to do all of my Christmas Shopping done. They literally have something for everyone in my family!
Today was an amazing day! I got to be pampered all day by Welle Studio. They have a fashion event every year called Festiwelle and I was the emcee! We did a photo shoot several months ago for the advertising spots and I got to sit among all of these gorgeous girls! They all wore clothes from the store and my jewelry!
I have a necklace that we call the Wear-with-everything-necklace. The original was a birthday gift given to me by my friend, Ashlee. She knew I made jewelry using chain and thought I could use something non-chain, so she made me a leather necklace with a prism on the end. Little did we know at the time, it would become the most popular necklace in the Lucy’s Inspired line. We added it in early on with a vintage key. About a year and a half ago, I made a “baby prism”. A shorter piece of leather with a smaller prism and key. Maybe something for the younger girl? It actually is worn by girls of all ages! I sell three times the smaller prism! I added a black leather with grey prism in August and they have become a hot item, as well! Every prism has a vintage key, a prism, leather lace band and a tiny Lucy’s Inspired tag! I’ve made so many this week I can’t count them. I’ve also enlisted friends and Emma’s friends to make them this week!! I will have them in Montgomery tomorrow at Welle Studio’s Fashion Show, the Kress on Dexler Pop Up shop through Christmas, at Perfectly Imperfect on Friday for a trunk show and a cuff workshop AND last, but not least, I’m doing a meet n greet at Market Noel on Saturday in Birmingham!
Would love to see you! Follow along on all social media outlets at Lucysinspired! We kick it on all of them!
Peace out Wednesday!
Sometimes it feels like I’m spinning wheels. Not in a bad way, just not getting ahead! I think we’ve made 1,000 prism necklaces in the past couple of months and I still don’t have enough! I know, that’s a good thing. Supply and demand. Yes, basic economics.
Monday mornings are usually the day I get my week together. You all know by now, I left my planner and computer at my Mom’s last Thursday. I swear, it’s like I couldn’t do anything without those two in my hands.
Instead of hanging out at my kitchen table and enjoying my coffee while planning the week, I jumped in the car and drove to Montgomery. It’s a little over an hour south of Birmingham. I met Heather from Welle Studio at the local news station to do a little segment on WSFA about Festiwelle coming up on Thursday. This event is going to be SO FUN! I will be the emcee and it’s going to be a day of pampering and festivities!! I went by the store and dropped off some jewelry for them to sell and use in the show and got an idea of how the layout would be on Thursday. I get my makeup and hair done, go to a radio show, pick out a fabulous outfit and get to talk about fashion, gift ideas and the holidays! Can you think of anything more fun? I can’t!
After sitting all day on Saturday doing absolutely NOTHING, I took a road trip to Atlanta. John Connor wanted to ride bikes again and I dropped him off with friends and headed east.
