It’s been in the works since May 4, 2013. The Southern Makers team has been meeting once a month, at least, to create another one of a kind event to celebrate the Southern Makers of Alabama. We’ve traveled to Nashville and Huntsville to research and promote what we know as the best of Alabama. We are so proud of this event and look forward to continuing the promotion of the South and those who make it a genuine place to live.
At Southern Makers you will enjoy food tastings from some of the best chefs from Alabama, craft beer tastings, panel discussions about Food, Shelter, and Clothing presented by Southern Foodways Alliance. As you walk into the Train Shed on Saturday, you will experience the Southern vendors and work your way up through the state into the Central vendors and the Northern vendors will be at the other end with various bands playing through out the day for your listening pleasure! It’s the event of the year in Alabama!
Last year’s event was way beyond expectation! I was thrilled to be a part of the event in the design of the Train Station in downtown Montgomery, Alabama. Working the Southern Accents booth was a great experience and I met so many wonderful new friends! I threw a small table of Lucy’s Lockets out there and actually sold a few! I didn’t have any sales goals that day, but thought I would test the market organically and see what happened. Well, it happened. I can honestly say that was the turning point for me, realizing more than just my Mom and friends liked my jewelry. Andrea Jean even wrote an article in the second MadePaper issue about my jewelry! This year, I have been working diligently to help create the 2nd Annual Southern Makers event and at the same time will have a booth of my own!
I can’t wait for you to see and experience this event. Do you have your tickets? If not, you can get them online at SouthernMakers.com. Quantities are limited, so you should hurry! Another option, if you are interested in being a part of Southern Makers, you can volunteer! To experience the behind the scenes of the event and actually say you were a part of the making of Southern Makers would be a wonderful experience. You can sign up to be a volunteer here. You will not regret it! (You get a free t-shirt, hello…worth it)
You will find my booth in the North section of the Train Station. I have been working on the design of my booth for a couple of weeks and can’t wait for you to see my little piece of Southern Makers! You will get to meet Ashlee, designer extraordinaire. She has been diligently working on Lucy’s Lockets for a few months and I couldn’t have done this without her! She will be in the booth with me helping you pick out the perfect Lucy’s Locket for you or someone you love. We like to say, “Wear a Lucy’s Locket everyday y’all.” I hope you will be able to say you do!
I have several besties coming to help with Southern Makers that day. Some will be helping with the Silent Auction where will have an auction item from all of the vendors! It will be one of the best silent auctions you’ve ever seen. We will be posting a few sneak peeks on the Southern Makers Facebook page and Instagram, so make sure you are following!!
Southern Makers is two weeks away! It will be a great day to be in Montgomery, Alabama. I hope to see you there.
